There is a touching moment in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis where one of the characters says, “They say Aslan is on the move—perhaps has already landed.” When the others hear it, everyone feels something special, even if they are not sure what it means. That moment presents a powerful image, filled with hope and encouragement that comes from hearing good news.
This image is remarkably similar to the state of the church in Cuba in 2024.
- In Narnia, wonderful things were stirring and something enormous was about to happen, even though it was still winter, and the Witch was still controlling Narnia.
- In Cuba, things are still incredibly difficult, more difficult than they have ever been. Fuel is still hard to obtain, power outages are still common, food is in short supply—yet something is stirring. The Holy Spirit is on the move, and the excitement is palpable.

The work of the Holy Spirit is to exalt Jesus, and when Jesus is exalted, people are drawn to Him and things start to change. It is exciting to see, and I am gratified to know that El Faro de Redención is a part of this move of God.
In Cuba today, there are many believers and church leaders who are excited about lifting Jesus up and showing how the story of God’s work to reconcile people to Himself through Christ is the story of all of Scripture. There is an intense hunger to learn how to preach Christ from all the Bible, and it feels like God is on the move to make that happen.
Every week I talk to or hear about pastors or ministries on the island that are now training other pastors and students how to interpret the Bible, how to see that it is all connected to the story of Jesus, and how to communicate it effectively to the hearts of the listeners. Incredibly, this is happening not only in traditionally conservative congregations, but in all kinds of denominations and groups that would not normally preach this way.
This November, I will be doing two conferences for pastors and leaders in the eastern part of Cuba titled “We Want to See Jesus,” and the organizers are telling me that over 300 pastors will be attending with some needing to be turned away.
These pastors are from Baptist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian and Methodist churches, as well as other homegrown denominations and independent churches. They are all coming together to be trained and encouraged to preach Christ more effectively and biblically. It is absolutely thrilling. And, by the way, their interest in these conferences comes from hearing the Christ-exalting, gospel-centered messages taught on El Faro’s daily broadcasts.
One new listener, a young man who wants to be a pastor, wrote to us saying:
“I heard the program ‘by chance’ on Radio Transmundial, and from that moment, I was deeply impacted by the way you preach Christ from the entire Bible. I have only been listening for a week, but it has already edified me greatly. These are very difficult days we are living through in Cuba, but glory to the Lord that we have an exalted and supreme Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who sustains and keeps us. I admire the program because it exalts Christ and preaches His Word not as a set of stories with moral lessons, but as it truly is—the story of the Redeemer. It was not by chance that I tuned in; it was the providence of God. Thank you for your program. May the Lord strengthen you and continue encouraging you to produce it. We need your message.”
That said, we need your partnership more than ever. You can join this gospel movement by praying for us and with us as we prepare messages that present Christ powerfully and effectively. And please consider investing in this gospel ministry that is reaching thousands of Cubans across the island, including many who have not yet trusted in Christ.
Would you join us at this critical time? We believe that God is truly on the move and your partnership can have a lasting influence in the people of Cuba and beyond.

Support Haven’s Spanish Broadcast: El Faro de Redención
A mass exodus in Cuba is causing many problems for the island—including a pastor shortage that has left many without access to solid Bible teaching. El Faro de Redención fills a unique void in the area as the only Christian radio program made for Cubans by Cubans—reaching every corner of the island with biblical content leading listeners to Christ every day.
But El Faro now faces a critical need—our Cuba fund is empty. When that happens, Haven must pull from reserves to make up the difference—something we cannot afford to do right now. Which is why we’re asking you to make your generous gift today to meet our goal of $100,000 this week. We are also boldly asking for 30 people to commit to sustaining El Faro on a monthly basis.
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT!! Thanks to a cohort of El Faro friends, every dollar you give now will be matched up to $34,500. Would you make your generous gift today to double your impact for people across the entire island of Cuba?
