Join Us In Reading the Bible in 90 Days

If reading the Bible provides such an abundance of peace, if time with the Lord in his Word is so fruitful, then why aren’t we faithful in reading the Bible?

Perhaps, it’s for the same reason we abandon our January gym memberships by the end of February. Or because certain books in the Old Testament look particularly tedious and boring.

Maybe we’re scared. Maybe it’s intimidating. Maybe we’ve failed before. Maybe it’s just too hard. Or maybe we don’t believe that it’s true, that God wrote it, that it matters at all.

But it does. The Word is the bread of life. The bread of life. We need to eat those words just as we need to eat food. Without the Word preached, read, and made clear by the Holy Spirit, we would surely not be saved.

Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. — Acts 20:32

Consider what we are missing! Every word from Genesis to Revelation is from God intended for us to hear, read, and know. They are a priceless gift to strengthen, encourage, and feed us. Quoting Deuteronomy 8:3, Jesus says, “Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Luke 4:4).

And that’s why myself, and Charles Morris, host of the Haven Today radio program, and a bunch of other stafffers at Haven Ministries are reading the Bible in 2016. But we’re going to read all 66 books of the Bible in 90 days.

According to former atheist Ted Cooper, there is something uniquely doable about reading the Bible at such a fast pace. In fact, Ted challenged God years ago that he would read the Bible cover to cover in 90 days, and if God did not prove Himself to be real in that time, then he would never give Christianity another thought.

For Ted, the rest is history …

The 90-day plan averages 12 pages a day and, if you discipline yourself, each day can take less time than an episode of NCIS (or Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, depending on your preference).

But the best reason of all to take the 90-day challenge is that you can expect to encounter the Living God throughout the process.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. — Hebrews 4:12

In other words, if you take the 90-day challenge, you will walk away changed and deeply blessed. You will grow in your walk with Jesus. And that’s ultimately why we, the staff at Haven Ministries, decided to take this challenge.

Will you join us and take Haven’s 90-Day Bible Challenge?
