Officer Swasey's Final Sermon

On Friday, November 27, officer Garrett Swasey was killed at the Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs. A husband and father of two, Swasey was also an elder who preached regularly at his church, Hope Chapel.
From his sermon, we can tell that Swasey was a man who put Christ above himself:
“Jesus is the cornerstone, we are merely stones being added to it. Jesus is the builder of the house, and He receives more glory than the house. And if we’re the house, He gets more glory than we do. Our objective is not to bring glory to ourselves but to bring glory to God. How? By transforming our lives through the Gospel. Apart from that it can’t be done, not in our own strength.”
There is no doubt that Officer Garrett Swasey is a hero who put the lives of others before his own. In memory of what he did in light of the gospel he held so dear, we’ve included the audio of his final sermon at Hope Chapel.

Though Swasey didn’t know it would be his last sermon, this message is a poignant reminder for us all that Jesus is the Savior who transcends life and death.
Please join us in praying for the Swasey family. If you would like to give in memory of Officer Garrett Swasey, there is a memorial fund set up here.
