Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon – Watch the Trailer

Sinners thought Johnny Cash was a saint, saints thought Johnny was a sinner, but, in reality, he was both. Just like us, he was flawed; he blew it, he fell, and he got up again. But he never lost his faith. In fact, at the very end of his life, it was stronger than ever.

In a moving documentary, rooted in faith, Johnny Cash’s story comes to life with tales of tragedy, success, addiction … and finally finding the light. Featuring conversations with Johnny’s children, sister, and contemporaries, you will be encouraged to see how God gave this broken man second and third chances — and how that’s not so different from you and me.

Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon

JOHNNY CASH: THE REDEMPTION OF AN AMERICAN ICON TELLS JOHNNY CASH’S STORY WITH TALES OF TRAGEDY, SUCCESS, ADDICTION … AND FINALLY FINDING THE LIGHT.

Johnny embodies the paradox of every Christian who wants to do what is right but struggles to do it — just like the apostle Paul described in Romans. His story is that of redemption, and it resonates with so many of us who mess up, yet still have God saying, “I’m not done with you yet.”

If we learn nothing else from the story of Johnny Cash, we learn that God gives second chances, and third ones, and fourth ones …

Most of us have a hard time actually forgiving ourselves.

Two favorite recordings I recorded at home with a friend a couple years ago were Johnny Cash’s versions of ‘Hurt’ and ‘Were You There’ that Inspired me at once, as Mr. Cash also mentioned his enthusiasm to record ‘Hurt’ on the DVD that I bought here: NO coincidence, I think! Lol.
And finally, saved from a big hole myself many years ago, I want to share the Old Testament Zechariah 3:1-7… I do not Know another Scripture so much helped me forgive MY self for what I did long ago; and also destroyed a music career I might have had before it even started… But JESUS cleans us up and takes us In, once we turn to follow Him; just like in that OLD Testament example: It’s GREAT to be SAVED!!!
