Haven Ministries began in 1934 with one man whose life was radically changed by Jesus. Paul Myers was a well-known Los Angeles radio personality until he hit rock bottom—waking up hungover near a San Diego wharf. At 4:00 a.m., he heard a ship’s bell ring eight times: “All’s well.” But he knew it wasn’t true for him.
That day, alone in a cheap hotel room, he opened a Gideon’s Bible—and encountered Jesus.
Just one month later, Myers was back on the air—not promoting entertainment, but proclaiming Christ. Each broadcast began with the words that marked his turning point: “Ahoy there, shipmate … eight bells, and all’s well.” From that moment, Haven of Rest was born, with a mission to share the hope of Jesus with the world.
Today, that same message continues through Haven Today, hosted by David Wollen, President of Haven Ministries. David carries the torch into a new generation, bringing thoughtful, Christ-centered reflections to over half a million listeners every day on more than 650 stations. Under his leadership, the ministry has expanded its reach through the ANCHOR Devotional, Great Stories podcast, video devotionals, social media, and El Faro de Redención, a Spanish-language program heard in more than 30 countries.
Across generations and cultures, God is using Haven to proclaim the good news of Jesus—helping people take one step closer to Him every day.

Thank you for this message. What a blessing this ministry is to the world. I’ve been blessed for years because of this ministry. I’ve been blessed with some extra money recently and have been praying on who to share it with. God has answered again, so I will be calling to place my Fiscal year end donation. This world and our country need ministries like thus now, more than ever. Many thanks and prayers.
