Fathers are a gift from God. Not only do they give us life and wisdom, but Dads are the ones who give us a glimpse of our eternal Father in Heaven. The verses below simply point out how Scripture declares that parenthood truly is a blessing from the Lord.
1. Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. — Psalm 127:3-5
2. Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. — Proverbs 23:22
3. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. — Luke 12:32
4. Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. — Exodus 20:12
5. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise — Ephesians 6:1-2
6. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. — 1 John 3:1
7. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him — Psalm 103:13
8. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. — Romans 8 :15-16
9. “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” — Luke 11:11-13
10. The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. — Proverbs 23:24
