Explore the reigns of Israel’s kings—from the best to the worst—and uncover the profound truth that none were the ultimate ruler the people needed. Join David Wollen as he examines 1 Samuel and sees how the stories of Israel’s kings are about the coming of a greater King.
Israel faced a great enemy in the Philistines. But God used the Prophet Samuel to deliver his people. And as we look at this story, we’ll see how it points us to an even greater deliverance from a greater enemy.
Often, we remember the bad more than the good. That’s why God calls us to build “mental monuments” to recall all the good he has done in our lives. Join David Wollen as he explores this wisdom in the final section of 1 Samuel 7.
Samuel’s corrupt sons pushed Israel to demand a king. But sadly, their request reveals a deeper rejection of God’s kingship. This story in 1 Samuel 8 underscores the dangers of ungodly leadership and the ultimate need for a righteous, divine King.
“You can’t always get what you want.” Famous song lyrics that could easily describe Israel’s request for a king. Their misplaced desires mirror our own. But the Lord knows what we truly need.
Jesus taught that the entire Bible, including the Psalms, is about Him. Join David Wollen and David Sunday from Word Partners as they explore how these ancient songs guide us to Jesus, teaching us to pray and find comfort in challenging times.
