Some passages of the Bible show us grand theology. Others move us to respond with gratitude to God. The parables are unique because they are simple stories that illustrate profound spiritual truths. And they make a great difference in how we live our lives today.

Parable of the Sower: “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.” This classic line from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer for a burial service doesn’t just allude to what happens to our bodies when we die.

The Prodigal Son: Are you able to relate to the story of the prodigal son? If not, maybe you are more like the older brother who did not recognize his own sin. No matter who you are, we all need the Father’s grace.

The Prodigal Son (Pt. 2): Christians have read the parable of the prodigal son for centuries. Many can relate to the younger son. Some can relate to the older brother. But how can we identify with the father in this parable?

The Unmerciful Servant: How often should you forgive someone who wrongs you? Jesus responds to this question with an outrageously high number and a parable. We may not like His answer at first, but it’s good news for all of us who continue to sin.

Parable of the Talents: No one likes to wait, especially when it comes to long lines and traffic lights. But there’s also a spiritual side to waiting. The question is, what do you do while you wait on the Lord?
