He was known for his bold preaching and deep love for the Gospel, but Charles Spurgeon was also honest about his physical and emotional suffering. So how did he keep his eyes fixed on Jesus through it all? Join David Wollen on The Great Stories Podcast for a new episode with Dr. Geoffrey Chang called, Finding Comfort in Suffering.

Your Only Comfort: Devotions for Hope in Suffering
30 Devotions of Comfort from the Sermons of C.H. Spurgeon
C.H. Spurgeon, the “Prince of Preachers,” knew profound suffering–both within his own life and within his congregation. Yet he found unshakable comfort in Christ–the man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. Spurgeon preached sermons that offered deep consolation and hope, and these truths are still desperately needed today.
In Your Only Comfort, Geoffrey Chang—curator of the Spurgeon Library—gathers 30 of Spurgeon’s most powerful reflections on suffering and hope. These devotions remind us that even in our deepest pain, we can rest in the steadfast goodness of Christ, hold fast to God’s promises, and hope in the eternal glory that awaits His people.

Motivated me to look more to Christ and find comfort in him instead of in other people or other things. I thank God that we have information about the frailty of this godly Man. It helps me to recognize that God can use me to in spite of my weaknesses.
