Moses looms large in the Old Testament, but not because he was so impressive. His story begins with failure, and yet, by the end of this life, he would go on to become the greatest prophet of the Old Testament.

On today’s episode of the Great Stories podcast, David Wollen has a roundtable discussion with executive producer Troy Lamberth and Cuba broadcast host Danny Rojas about how this towering figure in Scripture provides a Gospel blueprint for the greater Moses—Jesus. After that, you’ll hear a bonus interview with the director of the theatrical production of Moses: Sight & Sound, Chris Wert.

Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed!

Easter is a joy to celebrate because the resurrection of Christ is central to our faith. Without the resurrection, we would be to be pitied, for our faith would be in vain (1 Cor. 15:14). But Christ has been raised!

Jesus suffered on the cross for our sin, and through His sacrifice, we are forgiven and restored to God. Scripture says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, NIV).

The story does not end there. Three days later, the tomb was empty: “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said” (Matthew 28:6, NIV). Because Jesus lives, we have new life, real hope, and a future that is secure in Him.

Easter is not only a story we remember—it is a transforming truth we get to share with others. This season offers a natural opportunity to invite family, friends, or neighbors to church and to open our homes. People are often more willing to attend, more open to listen, and curious about the message of Jesus, making it a meaningful time to share the good news.

You may already have someone in mind. Inviting them doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as asking them to join you for a service or to sit around your table for a conversation.

When you do, you are giving them the opportunity to hear the gospel and creating space for conversations that matter. Scripture calls us to share the hope we have with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15, NIV). You might begin by simply sharing why Easter is meaningful to you and how Jesus has changed your life.

Not everyone will respond the same way, but that is not your responsibility. Your role is to be faithful—to take the step of opening your heart and sharing the reason for the hope you have.

Take time this week to reflect on the joy of the cross and the reality of the empty tomb. Let that joy shape your conversations. Then take the opportunity Easter provides: invite someone to join you, welcome them in, and share the hope you have.

It is a joy to celebrate what Jesus has done, and that joy grows as you share it with others.

Even people who are unfamiliar with the Bible often recognize the story of the burning bush, the ten plagues, and the parting of the Red Sea. But beneath the surface, there is so much more to the story of Moses than meets the eye.

On today’s episode of the Great Stories podcast by Haven Today, David Wollen dives deep into the story of Moses with one of today’s top evangelical scholars, Dr. Tremper Longman. Together, they discuss how the pattern of the exodus can be traced throughout the entire Bible—ultimately leading to Jesus. Not only will this conversation give you a greater appreciation for how Christ shows up in all of Scripture, but it will also show you how foundational the story of Moses is to salvation history.

There are moments when obedience to God feels anything but easy.

When Moses stood before the burning bush and heard God call his name, his first response was not confidence but hesitation. “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?” he asked (Exodus 3:11, NIV). And even when God’s call was unmistakably clear, Moses said what so many of us feel: “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else” (Exodus 4:13, NIV).

This is where his story begins—not with strength, but with weakness. He was slow of speech (Exodus 4:10), tainted by a complicated past, and hidden in the wilderness for years. By every measure, he seemed like the wrong choice. Yet it was there that God met him and said, “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say” (Exodus 4:12, NIV).

God was not asking Moses to be enough in himself. He was asking him to trust that His plan was far greater than anything Moses could see. So Moses obeyed.

That obedience did not make life easier. In fact, it made life much harder for Moses. Pharaoh resisted, the people complained, and the path ahead often felt uncertain. Still, Moses kept moving forward. As Hebrews tells us, “By faith Moses… persevered because he saw him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27, NIV). He pressed on—not because the road was clear—but because God was.

Even then, his story was not perfect. Near the end of his life, Moses disobeyed God, and the consequence was that he would not enter the Promised Land (Numbers 20). In mercy, God allowed him to see it from a distance (Deuteronomy 34:1–4), a reminder that his life was always part of something greater.

Because Moses was never the true deliverer.

His story points to Jesus, the One who obeyed perfectly where Moses did not. “For as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous” (Romans 5:19, NIV).

This is our hope, and it is also our calling. The same God who called Moses still calls us today, not to be perfect, but to trust Him. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV).

Obedience may be hard. It may be costly. But it is never wasted, because God is faithful and still at work through those who are willing to trust and obey Him.

Every parent hopes to give their child something that will last long after childhood fades. Toys break, interests change, and even the memories of early years soften with time. Yet God’s Word remains steadfast, carrying a wisdom far greater than anything else we could give to our children or grandchildren.

When Scripture is planted deeply in a child’s heart, it becomes something they carry with them wherever they go. In moments of joy, it turns their hearts toward gratitude. In moments of fear or uncertainty, it reminds them they are not alone. And in seasons when faith feels fragile, those familiar words can quietly guide them back to the One who has been their Shepherd all the days of their lives.

The Bible points to this kind of faith formation. In Psalm 119:11 we read:

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (NIV)

God’s Word is meant to dwell within us—shaping our thoughts, guiding our decisions, and anchoring our hearts in truth. For children especially, memorizing Scripture can become one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to begin that lifelong process.

Children are naturally gifted at memorization. They remember songs, stories, and phrases with surprising ease. Anyone who has watched a child repeat a favorite lyric or line from a story knows how quickly those words take root. When the words they learn are Scripture, the truths of God’s Word begin to shape the way they understand the world around them.

This is why Scripture encourages parents to pass God’s truth to the next generation. In Deuteronomy 6:6–7 we are told:

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.”

One of the most natural ways children learn—and remember—is through music. Songs have a remarkable ability to fix words in our memories. Many adults can still recall songs they learned decades earlier, even when other childhood memories have faded. When Scripture is paired with melody and repetition, those words often stay with children for years to come.

The beauty of memorizing Scripture is that its impact often unfolds slowly. A verse learned at the kitchen table may return years later in a difficult moment. A song sung before bedtime may echo in a heart during a season when faith feels distant. In ways we cannot always see, God continues to use His Word to guide and strengthen His people.

“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty.” Isaiah 55:11:(NIV)

Helping children memorize Scripture does not require elaborate plans or perfect routines. Often it begins with small and ordinary moments—reading a verse together, repeating God’s promises during prayer, or singing His Word throughout the day. These moments may seem simple, but over time they become seeds planted deeply in a child’s heart, reminding them again and again of the God who is always faithful.

Often when people think about heaven, they imagine it as the closing chapter of life — a peaceful resting place after years of joy and sorrow, faith and struggle. Yet Scripture presents something far greater than a quiet ending. Heaven is not where our story stops; it is where God’s redemptive story reaches its glorious fulfillment — life forever with Jesus.

For believers, the heart of heaven is not primarily freedom from pain, reunion with loved ones, or even the beauty of a restored creation, as wonderful as those promises are. The central focus of heaven is Christ Himself. The apostle Paul makes this clear when he writes, “I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” (Philippians 1:23, NIV). What made the future so compelling to Paul was not merely escape from hardships, but also the certainty of being with the Savior he loved. Heaven is Heavenly because Jesus is there.

Even now, we know Him truly, but not fully. We trust Him, follow Him, and experience His grace, yet our understanding remains partial and our vision dimmed by the limits of this present age. Paul acknowledges this when he writes, “Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face” (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV). The day is coming when faith will give way to sight, when we will no longer know Christ through Scriptural promises alone. We will behold Him in unveiled glory. To see Him face to face will not simply satisfy our curiosity; it will complete our joy.

Scripture also speaks of the believer’s death as being “at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8, NIV), language that conveys belonging rather than loss. Home is where we are fully known and fully welcomed, where striving ceases and rest begins. To be with Christ is to arrive at the place our hearts have longed for, even when we could not fully name that longing. C.S. Lewis famously wrote, “If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”

Yet even this immediate presence with the Lord is not the final chapter. God promises the restoration of all things. The apostle John writes, “Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away” (Revelation 21:1, NIV). This vision reminds us that God is not abandoning His creation but recreating it, bringing His purposes to completion rather than discarding what He first called good.

In that renewed creation, the effects of sin will be entirely undone. John describes the tenderness of God’s promise: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4, NIV). The sorrows that mark our present experience will not merely fade; they will be decisively removed. Death, which has cast its shadow over every generation, will be no more. Grief will have an end. Suffering will not follow us into eternity. Sin will no longer ensnare us — God will remember our sins no more (Heb. 8:12). This is why heaven is not the end of the story but its fulfillment. What was fractured in Genesis will be healed in Revelation. What began with God walking with His people in the garden will culminate in His dwelling fully and forever among them. The promise is not merely that we will go to be with God, but that He will dwell with us in unhindered fellowship.

And at the center of it all will be Jesus — not distant, not partially known, but present in glory. The One who was crucified and risen will be the light of that eternal day, and His people will be with Him forever. That is our hope. This is our hope — Everlasting life in the presence of the Savior who loved us and gave Himself for us.
