"Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are
exalted as head over all."
(1 CHRONICLES 29:11B)

1 Chronicles 29:10-13
The kingdom of God is for all who believe in Jesus Christ. I recall an early experience I had in Africa. With shining eyes and a smile on his face, a young Tanzanian man said, “I love Jesus.” That is nice, I thought. Then he looked at me, “Do you love Jesus?” Of course I do, I thought. Am I not a missionary?

Then I considered, “Is it possible that he believes that if he loves Jesus and I love Jesus, that means we are one in Jesus, like family members?” How could that be? Our cultures are so radically different in many respects. He is black, I am white. He speaks Kizanaki, I speak English. I have three academic degrees, he has not finished high school. Furthermore, he is a first generation believer, while all my Mennonite ancestors for 500 years were believers. With these differences and many more, how can he assume that we are related closer than blood brothers? Because he knows – and I know – that we are washed by the same blood and energized by the same Holy Spirit.

This is the kingdom that Jesus died to create.
