"You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and the Persians."
During one of his excessive parties, the king called for the sacred gold and silver cups to be used, items which had been taken from the Lord’s temple in Jerusalem. The debauched guests drank wine from them and praised their false gods of gold and silver. Immediately, a hand appeared, writing God’s judgment on a wall…one of Belshazzar’s walls!
Outside the city, the army of the Medes and Persians had diverted the river that flowed under the outer wall and entered the city by way of the riverbed. The king lost his throne because, as Daniel told him, “you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways” (Daniel 5:23).
DON'T TRY BUILDING WALLS BETWEEN YOURSELF AND GOD. THEY DON'T MATTER TO THE ONE WHO CREATED MATTER IN THE FIRST PLACE.
