"A truthful witness saves lives, but a false
witness is deceitful."
(PROVERBS 14:25)

Psalm 1

“You’re a Christian?” Those words nearly knocked me to my knees. You see, I had been a believer in Jesus for seven years when a co-worker in the prison cabinet shop asked me this. How could he not know that I was a Christian? I had taught Bible studies, evangelized out on the yard, volunteered in the chapel, etc. Didn’t he see who I was? But then I gave it some thought.

In the cabinet shop, I was trying to live a double life. I wanted to fit in and be liked, so I acted like everyone else. I gave the warning signals when an officer was walking through the shop. I stood lookout while men smuggled their contraband jewelry boxes out to the yard. Were these things I should do if I were claiming the name of Christ in my life?

This conversation made me realize that I wasn’t being a truthful witness for Jesus. I had to repent and begin walking the walk instead of just talking the talk. It was amazing to see just how much I was able to talk to people about Christ when they saw me actually living for Him.
