Why do we pay full price for Christmas gifts and items on December 24th when we could wait until December 26th and get them at half price? What a difference waiting a day or two can make!


In Queen Esther’s story, one day made all the difference. Mordecai informed her that their people would be destroyed by an irreversible edict signed by her husband, the king. If she did nothing, all the Jews in Persia, including herself, would be killed. She hosted a banquet for the king and Haman, his advisor who had devised the plan to kill the Jews. Esther planned to expose Haman’s wicked plot to the king at the banquet, but inexplicably waited and asked them both to return the next day. In that single day, God arranged a turn of events that trapped Haman into unraveling himself, exonerated Mordecai and persuaded the king to allow the Jewish people to defend themselves against him.


One dreadful day, Jesus had died, and His disciples were discouraged and fearful. The next day, He arose alive! Oh, glorious day!
