The Gospel writers tell of several times when Jesus freed people from demon-possession. Luke tells the story of a woman who had been bound by the devil for 18 years when Jesus delivered her and set her free.


There was a time when I had my liberty and lived “free” in the world. In reality, I was in bondage because I was living in disobedience. I was in bondage to my sin, despite the fact that I called myself a Christian. Any of us can be living a life that seems O.K. in our own sight, yet is actually a life in bondage to sin and the devil.


If you have not placed your faith in Jesus, today is the right moment to do so. Jesus said “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32), and “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). When we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He frees us from the hold this world has on us, whether it be through an addiction, material possessions, anger, workaholism, etc.


Lord, open our eyes that we may see whether we are truly free or not.
