“God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Colossians 1:27
The Spirit is the beautifier of the gospel; He gives us eyes to see the generosity of God’s gift of His Son, and He endows us with gifts so we can speak it back and forth to one another. We do this not only with words, but with acts of love and all kinds of creative expressions. Jesus calls Him “the gift my Father promised” (Acts 1:4), and He is a truly magnificent gift.

The Gift

We couldn’t understand, or speak, or even

Live, without a life-infusing shift

Within our very souls and so we prayed,

And waited for the Father’s promised gift.

And oh, that day He came, a sweeping wind

Of change! He blew away our apathy,

A glory flame of power and love, he crowned

Our heads and healed our incapacity

To speak the recreating Word, the message

Of the world reborn, the news that soars

To heights beyond what words can say and down

To depths where groans too deep for words are stored,

The Word that says the crucified is King,

The Word that heals and fills and makes us sing.
