"'I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten - the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm - my great army
that I sent among you.'"
(JOEL 2:25)

Joel 2:12-27
I have had feelings of regret at lost opportunities, of things left undone which I ought to have done. Who has not had these twinges of conscience?

The Lord gives comfort to us when these thoughts come. From the Old Testament we read that He promises to restore to us the years the locust took. How can this be done? I do not know the answer, but I am certain that what He promises, He is absolutely able to perform.

I have seen the awesome destruction of a whole district in Africa when a cloud of locusts has finished its work. Not a single leaf or blade of grass remains. The scene is devastating. Is that a picture of some of the periods in your life? Can you take God’s promise to heart and believe that He can actually restore those years?

The answer is Yes. He has the power to make up for all our sin. Sometimes He chooses to make subsequent years so fruitful that the lost years pale by comparison. We can praise Him for His power to restore, the same power that raised Jesus, our great Redeemer, from the dead.
