"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your
Father in heaven."
(MATTHEW 5:16)

Isaiah 60:1-5
Our first apartment didn’t have the best electrical wiring. Every time I plugged in my iron, the lamp in our living room would dim and flicker. We called our apartment maintenance person, and he offered to fix the outlet for us. He fixed it all right! Instead of the lamp just flickering, it would go out completely. After some trial and error, the problem was solved, and we were able to keep the light on with other small appliances in use.

When we are faced with changes, our connection to God can sometimes dim and flicker. We lose touch with Him because we are so preoccupied with whatever adjustments come along with the change. When this happens, we run the risk of straying from Him. But Jesus Christ is our constant power source! We must work hard to remember that we who call ourselves Christians – Christ followers – are being carefully watched by the rest of the world. The better connected we are to Him, the brighter our lights shine and the better influence we can be to a world that’s gone dark.
