"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water."
(PSALM 63:1)

Psalm 63
Born with cystic fibrosis, a life-shortening genetic condition, I wasn’t expected to reach my tenth birthday. That was nearly three decades ago! My life is one of many challenges, including dozens of hospitalizations over the last several years. Each and every time there are literally hundreds of people praying for my recovery and healing.

Do I ever wonder why God doesn’t just outright heal me? Sometimes…but I know He has His reasons for not changing me. One reason is that it causes my faith to grow by leaps and bounds when I see how He works in my life. I have had the opportunity to share my faith with many nurses and doctors. I’ve been able to use my story to encourage others who are fighting the same disease.

God doesn’t always give us the changes we want to see. Quite often He does the opposite. Like David when he wrote Psalm 63 in the desert, we long for a cool change. But sometimes it is when there is no change at all that we are drawn to Him and better understand His will.
