"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
(COLOSSIANS 3:12)

Colossians 3:1-17
This passage is not the only place in the Bible you will find words of instruction on how we should live. I love these Scripture verses, but I also realize that the real reason I want to take them to heart is because the One I’m living for – Jesus – is perfectly clothed in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience for me. Clothing ourselves in these virtues unites us to Him.

From time to time as a hospital chaplain I would get dressed to enter the surgical area. Everything and everyone there had to be completely clean, clothed in perfectly sanitized scrubs before the pending surgery.

In our Christian walk, we are to clothe ourselves in Jesus, the spotless One. Having been born anew in Christ and having the capacity to grow more like Him, we are the objects of His incomprehensible love resulting in godliness toward one another. It becomes our spiritual DNA, evidenced in the world. We need to be about our Father’s business, drawing strength from the Holy Spirit who clothes us in His righteousness.
