“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”

John 14:12
There is a hall of fame for nearly every sport under the sun, celebrating the legacy of the players and coaches who have made their mark in history. If the individuals inducted into a hall of fame are still alive to receive the honor, they deem it an ultimate accomplishment in their sports career. Visiting a hall of fame and seeing the mountains of memorabilia can be quite momentous for a person who loves a particular sport.

The Bible’s “Hall of Fame” might more accurately be called a “Hall of Faith.” Hebrews 11 highlights many of the key people throughout biblical times who trusted and followed God. Unlike a sports hall of fame, this chapter magnifies those who put God above themselves and trusted even in the face of defeat. While each person’s moment of faith played out uniquely, all believed God would do what He had promised.

The measure for being included in the Hall of Faith is not about faith “merit points” we might earn. Rather, it’s what God has done, is doing, and will do in our lives that brings the ultimate reward.
