"'He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.' Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, 'But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?'"
(JOHN 14:21-22)

John 20:19-20, 26; 21:1
Good question, Judas. Jesus’ answer searches the heart. He reminded His disciples that He appears to those who love Him. That does not mean that Jesus does not reveal Himself to the world, for He does so in nature, in consciences, the laws of logic, and so forth. Some people are impressed; others not. But He “shows” Himself to those who love Him because of the love bond that exists between Him and those in whom He lives by faith. The citizens of the kingdom of God are bound together in the bonds of love, God’s love, given freely to us.

I sometimes forget that one of the most precious privileges I have as a member of Christ’s body, His kingdom, is Jesus’ eagerness to show Himself to me again and again. He never tires of doing so. John wrote about Jesus after His resurrection, saying, “Jesus appeared again to his disciples… It happened this way” (21:1). This is my testimony and the song of all who believe: Jesus appeared again! And again! Someday we will see Him face to face, in blazing glory.
