"Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I."
(ISAIAH 58:9)

Isaiah 58:6-9
Sometimes when I am in the darkest places, the Lord seems distant and unresponsive to my cry for help. This section of Isaiah 58 gives me insight for my times of doubt and despair. The three “then” statements in verses 8-9, all answers, are in response to the “if” statements in verses 6-7 that precede them. If you desire healing to come like the light of the new dawn, fight injustice, set the oppressed free, share food with the hungry, clothe the naked.

Isaiah tells us that then our healing will come quickly; then the Lord’s glory will guard us;
then we will call out to the Lord and He will hear our cries.

Often the best cure when we are sick spiritually is to do something for others. This is not merely a distraction from our problems; it is an essential part of our cure. And it is exactly what our Savior did for us: He came and put all His focus on healing the sickness of our souls. Show the love of Christ to those around you, and you will experience His love and healing in your own life too.
