“The LORD replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’”

Exodus 33:14
From the beginning of God’s wondrous plan to rescue His people and bring them into His fold, He was assuring them that He was with them and would see them through to the end. Think about the tender words God spoke to Moses. Is it conceivable for us to have such fellowship with our Lord in the midst of this world’s troubles? Absolutely! Here I sit near the warm fireplace, surrounded by study Bibles, lexicons, and commentaries, meditating on these powerful words of a man and his God. Yet these are words for me and for you, too!

While Moses fretted (and we all understand why he would!), God basically told him, “You have Me with you, and I know you better than you know yourself. So take a deep breath and rest.”

What a sacred moment for Moses as he prepared to lead God’s people. The Lord spoke directly to him: “I am pleased with you and I know you by name” (v. 17). Do you know that the Lord is pleased with you and knows you by name? When He hung on the cross, you were the joy set before Him that made Him willingly pay the sin debt you owe.
