"If one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins."
(JAMES 5:19-20)

Proverbs 10:7-12
Ever dug into your fruit basket and discovered every apple was mushy? One rotten apple had tainted the rest. The saying, “One bad apple spoils the lot” refers to the biblical admonition that “bad company corrupts good morals.” It’s a wise warning for all, especially those weak in faith, shaky in knowledge of God’s Word, or fuzzy about concepts of right and wrong.

Though we’re not to let bad character rub off on us, we still are to be gracious. It’s sin that has turned people into “bad apples,” and it’s the loving grace of God expressed through His empathetic ambassadors that begins healing. That man, woman or teen of dubious character – who looks rotten to the core – needs strong Christian influence…loving, nonjudgmental models of God’s power and holiness.

And really, is any of us different? All sinners, we each are rotten to the core, hopelessly unable to save ourselves. Someone cared and brought us to Jesus. Perhaps you’ll be able to show that same welcome to a person God places in your sphere
of influence.
