"...there was given me a thorn in my flesh... I pleaded with the Lord to take it away... But he said to me,
'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power
is made perfect in weakness.'"
(2 CORINTHIANS 12:7-9)

2 Corinthians 12:1-10
Guy Penrod, former member of the Gaither Vocal Band, said the majority of people who love GVB music tell them that God uses their music to “get them through” difficult times. I’m thinking about a brother in faith who deals with a continual physical battle of pain and of his dear wife for whom no further medical treatment is available. The months have turned into years and a daily need to just live with Jesus. In the quiet and inner resources of the soul, it is the Spirit of God in all His freshness that gets them through one moment at a time.

Don’t we all have some kind of “thorn” issue we deal with? Some sort of physical or spiritual pain we’ve begged God to remove? The Apostle’s words in these verses hearten us. Satan will attempt to divert us from trusting in God, and we may pray for deliverance and experience a seeming silence from heaven. While He may not bring deliverance, He generously gives grace that brings endurance. Most generously, He gave us Jesus to bear every pain for us.
