"For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit
of power, of love, and of self-discipline."
(2 TIMOTHY 1:7)

Joshua 1:6-9
A couple years ago when I was at a crossroads in my life, I was half listening to the radio as I drove along. A lyric caught my attention: “for the rest of your life you will have to decide boldly.”
Over and over throughout the story of God’s people, He calls them to be bold. Read just the four verses of the Lord’s command to Joshua and you’ll see Him telling Joshua four times to be strong. The only reason Joshua could be courageous was because the Lord His God was with him. Something comes alive when we live boldly. For a Christian, that “something” is the Spirit at work in us. Conversely, when we live in fear, we wither up inside.
Shortly after I heard that song on the radio, I began a new career, pursuing storytelling through film, photography and writing. Though I never had to put as much on the line as Joshua who faced the fierce enemy, I know even job-change decisions can be daunting. Whatever God may be calling you to, He promises that He will be with you wherever you go for the rest of your life.
