"Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation
in the body of Christ?"
(1 CORINTHIANS 10:16)

2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Life is hectic. But no matter how wild our schedules are, Rachel and I almost always sit down and eat dinner together. It is our “Reset” switch. At that table, we eat together and remember who we are: I am her husband, and she is my wife. We’re much more than mere “business partners” or just roommates. Rachel usually asks me about my day. Through what seems like the mundane daily details, I share with her and in this way – sharing a meal and spending time with each other – our lives come back together.

This really is a picture of our participation with Christ at the Lord’s Supper. At His Table, Jesus sits us down and feeds us. As the Church, we sit down together and remember who we are: sinners for whom Jesus’ blood was poured out and for whom His body was broken. We’re more than just Sunday worshippers; we’re His chosen ones. And we partake over and over again because we are such forgetful people. Hear His words, “do this in remembrance of me” and remember who we are: He is our Husband; we are His Bride.
