"'Do not be afraid, O man highly esteemed,' he said. 'Peace! Be strong now; be strong.' When he spoke to me I was strengthened and said, 'Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.'"
Daniel heard from God in dreams and visions, but I don’t think a person ever grows unaffected by events like that. The messengers of the Lord are fearsome! Here, an angel appeared to Daniel in a vision and let Daniel know he was delayed for delivering his message until the archangel Michael came to fight demons with him.
Wouldn’t you stand trembling to hear a message so important that demons battled the angels to stop it? But God’s servant prevailed and prophesied to Daniel about the next 500 years of human history, the advent of Christ and the foundation
of His church.
It’s hard to face God’s holiness when we know how unholy we are. The Word He has for us is so earth-shattering that Jesus Himself battled Satan to preserve it. It’s His message of redemption and restoration. Where Daniel was touched by the angel and could stand, we have even more. We know that Christ has touched our lives, paid for our sins, given us His Spirit, and sanctifies us. Because we are loved, we can have peace and take courage.
"...NEITHER DEATH NOR LIFE, NEITHER ANGELS NOR DEMONS... NOR ANYTHING ELSE IN ALL CREATION WILL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD..."
