"We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."
(2 CORINTHIANS 5:8)

2 Corinthians 5:6-9
Our natural response to any enemy is fear. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:26 that the last enemy to be destroyed is death. There is so much unknown on the other side and so much we leave behind on this side. I am so attached to my living body I can’t imagine life without it! It’s hard to form a sentence about life without my body that even makes any sense. It’s the only life I know!

Paul was not fearless because he had answers for all of these questions or explanations why the life to come was better than his present life in the body. He had courage because he knew the One with Whom he would spend eternity.

As believers in Jesus, we know that to be with Christ is far better than anything we can imagine. Our years go on, and many of us bear greater and greater burdens in our physical bodies, fearing what is next in the cancer, the decreasing motor skill, the disability, the memory loss, etc. He who died for our sins and rose again will make sure our passing through death to new life is glorious and free
from fear.
