Cuba Not Forgotten

Rolling blackouts that last for days have become a way of life in Cuba. But even in the darkness, a light is shining. In this episode, our Cuba radio host Danny Rojas joins David Wollen to talk about the light of Jesus shining in Cuba.

Cuba is in turmoil, struggling with food and power shortages. What’s the result? A mass exodus of its people. Yet the church continues to thrive.

How is the Lord working? We can only see what he reveals to us, and sometimes he gives us a glimpse. A few weeks ago, this happened in a small church in Havana. On this episode, David Wollen shares a conversation recorded in the back of a church on the outskirts of Havana. Even in the midst of a pastor’s conference, the Lord was drawing someone to faith in Jesus unbeknownst to everyone who was there.

It’s a sad phenomenon in many parts of the world—Christians sharply divided along denominational lines. Yet Christ prayed for unity. And when Christians unite around the essential Gospel, the Lord often moves in astonishing ways. This is what happened in Cuba historically, and we see it happening again in pockets of the country today. Later, Patrick Havens, a pastor from the Chicago area, joins the conversation to share his observations of what is happening in Cuba.

Light, water, bread… these are basic necessities. They are also identities which Jesus applied to Himself: “Light of the World,” “Living Water,” and “True Bread.” In Cuba, basic necessities are lacking, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest need of all.
