“And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are My Son, whom I love...’”

Luke 3:22b
As I have ministered the last 25 years in prisons, it has been heartbreaking to hear story after story of people who have never truly felt loved. At the very nature of God is love that flows from His heart to His creation—us! Yet because of sin and its costly effects, our spiritual ears struggle to hear His love language.
Soak in the scene at the Jordan River. The Father breaks through the sound barriers of earth and declares for all to hear, “This is my boy, and I love him.” Can you imagine hearing something like that from your parent? God’s love for His Son is so powerful that it moved Jesus to the cross to die for our sins. He knew that the deep, deep love of the Father would not leave Him in the grave.
If you are having trouble hearing that you are loved, look back to the cross. Think about a Father who loved His perfect Son so much that He allowed His life to be offered up on a cruel cross to show “how wide and long and high and deep” is His love for you (Ephesians 3:18). Don’t miss this life- changing truth!
