“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
In my church, there is a small team of prayer warriors who for years has done the hard work of lifting up the lost and wandering in prayer. They have prayed continually, trusting God to move in lives.

In The Forgotten 500, some 500 allied airmen had been forced to abandon their planes in German-occupied Yugoslavia. They were protected by Yugoslavian freedom fighters, but needed to get out. To do so, an airstrip had to be built on a narrow plateau on a mountainside. The allies “knew this would be tough work for the airmen and local villagers to build an airstrip big enough to land a cargo plane using nothing more than their bare hands and the occasional hoe or pitchfork” (Gregory Freeman, 2007). But they did it because every foot of airstrip mattered and because they trusted the plane would come as promised.

How much more should we, who desire loved ones to come to the Lord, do the hard work of praying to God? We can trust that He wants all to come to Him in repentance and that no one would perish (see 2 Peter 3:9).
