“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.”
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise…. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Psalm 62:1, 2 Peter 3:9
I have always been a person wired to want quick results, so I find the stroke recovery process to be painfully slow. I’ve counted 2,242 days so far since I could drive, and I don’t see quick results from therapy.

After 40-year-old Caleb completed his job spying out the Promised Land, God promised him land of his own as a reward (Numbers 14:24). However, it took 45 years before he received it (Joshua 14:10-13).

I imagine that when it was first promised to him, Caleb expected to receive his acreage before he was 85 years old. But his trust in God during 45 years in the wilderness sustained him until God fulfilled the promise, even giving him the strength at 85 to drive out the inhabitants! I’m not sure which is more amazing, someone waiting on the Lord in the wilderness that long or someone that old leading the battle to take his land! For us who impatiently wait on the Lord while in our “wilderness,” Caleb’s story reminds us that God not only keeps His promises, but He also sustains us while we trustfully wait on Him.
