“‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’”

Luke 19:17
“Well done.” Who wouldn’t love to hear that? Imagine Jesus saying those words to you when you get to heaven. The money you earned, talents you developed, or responsibilities you had are not the objects of your life. Your faithfulness in utilizing these things to glorify God and then to expand His Kingdom to the nations are of far more importance. Your faithfulness with what you’ve been given in this life will result in great rewards in the life to come.
There is a famous line from the well-known movie Gladiator, where the main character, Maximus, says, “What we do in life echoes in eternity.” I’ve found that while our Christian brothers and sisters in Cuba are suffering through many challenges due to their faith, this idea takes on more meaning. They tell about Jesus whatever the cost, and surely that will echo into eternity. But even as many Cubans and those of us in other parts of the world consider this, we know the greater truth. It’s not so much what we do in this life, but what Jesus Christ has already done that echoes down into all eternity.
