“Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.”

Colossians 3:11
One of my fondest memories of witnessing God’s beautiful and widely-varied family came from a worship service I attended in an inter-denominational church in Hong Kong. There were more nationalities, dress styles, languages, and ethnic backgrounds than I could count. And all of us were singing our hearts out for Jesus. In the church yard after the service, fellowship followed with local coffee, tea, and pastries. It felt like a touch of heaven!

Have you ever experienced the wonder of feeling no divisions at all with other believers? You may have even received into your home Christians from far and wide. After my wife and son spent time in Africa for a short-term mission trip, we later welcomed some of these Zambian friends into our home. They had become like family!

Paul is telling his Colossian friends that they represent every tongue and nation, every part of the world, and have in common that “Christ is all, and in all.” Wherever we’re from and whoever we are, we’re lovingly welcomed into His family through faith in Jesus.
