“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Jeremiah 29:11
We all know it’s hard to wait, even if only for a short time. The Israelites had to wait 70 years before God delivered them from Babylonian captivity. Being confined in a foreign country for seven decades certainly wasn’t easy for God’s chosen people. They grew impatient. However, God was shaping them in the meantime according to His perfect design.

Danny has been waiting for his release from prison ever since his mandatory treatment class was completed several months ago. It’s difficult, but he keeps waiting with hope for a better future. Of course, each day he longs to hear the words that he has been given his freedom. Meanwhile, God is shaping Danny to become more Christ-like.

What are you waiting for? Reconciliation in a strained relationship? A cure for the disease you’re battling? A job? Marriage? Waiting isn’t easy, no matter what our situation. Remember that the Lord is growing you in patience— learned over time—and that He has a plan for you. Because He knows the day of our deliverance, we have great hope.Jeremiah 29:1-14
