“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28)
Jesus gives us a powerful invitation. Throughout the Gospels, we find people coming to Him with their burdens, sicknesses, and sins. Jesus spoke words of peace to them, healed their bodies, and forgave their sins. Still today He is saying to us, urging us, “Come to me.”
I remember a day in Mozambique, Africa, when I was away from my family and teaching long hours day after day. I was exhausted and discouraged. There was a moment in my little hotel room when I knelt down and came to Jesus. I wept in His presence, asking Him to give me new strength. Soon my spirit lifted, and joy flooded my soul. I couldn’t help singing praises and giving the Lord thanks.
When Jesus says, “Come to me…I will give you rest,” He means it. Come to Him now before the worries and cares of your life in this world overcome you. You may consider rushing to therapists, to self-help websites, or to motivational seminars to “fix” your life. Why rely on those flawed resources when the Creator of the Universe invites you to come to Him today?
