“By calling this covenant ‘new,’ he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.”

Hebrews 8:13
Our heavenly Father will always establish Himself as the one true God in the hearts and minds of His people. His first covenant with His people in the Old Testament involved priests offering continual sacrifices. It demonstrated how serious sin was and that it must be atoned for. But it left them longing for a better sacrifice, a perfect one, something once-and-for-all.

Praise God we have that in the New Covenant through Jesus Christ at Calvary! He perfectly, fully saves “those who come to God through him” (Hebrews 7:25). In Jesus, our minds and hearts are transformed. Our perfect Savior forgives our wickedness and remembers our sins no more (see Hebrews 8:12).

Commit these words to memory: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). I recently spoke with a U.S. Marine from my missionary days on Okinawa whose life turned around as he grasped this truth. Your loving Father has paid the price for your sin once for all through His Son. May He rule in your heart and mind today.
