“Do your best to present yourself to God as one who … correctly handles the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 2:15
“It’s all relative,” people say. No, there is absolute truth, and it is embodied in Jesus Christ.

Paul said to measure all philosophies, teachings, speeches, and traditions by Jesus because He claimed to be absolute truth. Jesus Himself said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

Do you remember Jesus’ conversation with Pilate? Pilate was curious about truth and was so very, very near it as Jesus spoke to him saying, “I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me” (John 18:37). In His last prayer before His arrest, Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17). Jesus said we’re made holy through absorbing His truth, the Word of God.

As you face the issues of our day, what truth do you speak? What is the core truth for your life? Where do you turn for security and direction? Will you let your experiences define truth, or will truth define your experiences?
