"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."
JOHN 10:11

Psalm 23
Throughout history the comforting words of Psalm 23 have heartened people going through the “valley of the shadow of death.” I was one of them. My “valley” was prison, but it was there that I met my Good Shepherd. While in one of the darkest times of my life, I actually came to know peaceful streams of His love from which to drink and green pastures of His care from which to eat. At all times my needs were provided for.

Jesus tells us in John 10 that He is the Good Shepherd who gives His life for the sheep. Paul tells us that God who freely gave us His own Son will also give us everything. If God gave us the greatest gift, wouldn’t He also freely give us everything else we need to live out this life for His glory?

Christians and non-Christians alike get caught up in the fast-paced affairs of this world. We put our trust in elected officials, bosses, bank accounts, forgetting we have a Shepherd who cares for us like no one else and who gave all for us. Our life sentence was paid with His perfect life.
