“In a loud voice they sang: ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!’”

Revelation 5:12
God made us at the very outset of creation to bear His image and fill the earth with it. Our sin shattered what this image should look like, so a large portion of how we now bear His image involves restoring that which sin has broken. I seek to do just this as a pastor. But this part of my job will no longer exist in heaven where sin is no more. For this I rejoice! However, I am a worship pastor, and I can rejoice that one part of my job will remain: praising God with music!

Music is everywhere in the Bible. The book of Revelation makes the presence of music in heaven very plain. We read of visions of God’s throne room; we read of the songs angels will sing. This affirms the goodness of music in our lives today and into eternity. In fact, it’s so significant as a means of worship that this very day in heaven, God is using music to bring honor and glory to Himself.

How truly heavenly! This should fuel our joy to sing or play an instrument for the glory of God whether on a Sunday morning in church or at any other time of the week.
