"The troubles of my heart have multiplied;
free me from my anguish."
(PSALM 25:17)

Psalm 84
“Free me from my anguish” is the whispered prayer of my heart. Haven’t we all asked the Lord at one time or another to take away whatever worry or disaster or illness or trouble we are facing? I am seeing the fading of my life and the shortening of my days. The cancer cells are multiplying, and my strength is decreasing.

There is only one answer: the Author of Peace will meet me in my deep distress. His answer is certain; His presence is my peace. I do not deserve such lifting of my distress, but He delights in comforting me anyway. He grants me laughter instead of tears, creating a longing in me for the promised eternity of no more tears. “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere” (Psalm 84:10).

Let your burdens be carried by Jesus who poured out His life unto death. He took the punishment of our sins to bring us peace. “By his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Live today in the great love that was purchased on the cross for you; live free from the burden of carrying your own pain.
