“For we live by faith, not by sight.”

2 Corinthians 5:7
One of my favorite species of fish is the Pacific bluefin tuna. It’s a magnificent fish—beautiful, powerful, and sleek. It can grow to several hundred pounds. One of the fascinating aspects of this fish is its migratory habits. Bluefin will spawn off the coasts of Japan, then travel to the coast of California and eventually travel all the way back again. This means they will journey roughly 5,000 miles, all driven by instinct.

Human beings have instincts as well, but those instincts are not the driving force in our lives. Our human nature is affected by sin to the point that our instincts, our desires, and even our thought life are corrupted.

God has designed us, His children, to live supernaturally, no longer guided by corrupted instincts and desires, or even by what we see, but by the faith that God gives us. This means that we view our current suffering, trials, and journeys in life differently. We know we are heading to our heavenly dwelling place, created for us by God. And it is our faith in Jesus which guides us there.
