“May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you. Amen.”

Romans 16:24
As you worship the Lord today at church, I pray the following words written by Clement of Alexandria in AD 198 (The Tutor, Book 3, Chapter 12) might be used to prepare your heart to meet with Jesus. Over the ages, Christ’s church has triumphed through both physical and spiritual attacks, and He alone is worthy of our praise.

O Christ, Guide of Your children, Lord of the holy,/ Conquering Logos of God the Father,/ Prince of wisdom,/ Strength of the sad,/ Joy of eternity,/ Jesus, Savior of the human race,/ Shepherd, Soil-breaker, Guide, Leader,/ Heavenly Wing for the flock of Your saints:/ Fisher of men, You save Your chaste fish/ From the sea of sin;/ You catch them/ From the menacing waves,/ With sweet life as the bait./ Guide us, Shepherd of the human flock;/ Reign, O Holy One, over Your unharmed children./ Your footsteps, O Christ, are the heavenly way/ O eternal Logos, You are timeless time and immortal light;/ You are the Fountain of mercy, the Agent of goodness;/ You are the noble life of those who worship God.
