“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.”

Romans 5:6
Caregiving is all about helping those who cannot help themselves. They might have a physical disability, a mental limitation, or an emotional illness. Whatever the cause, the caregiver provides care for their wellbeing.

The care offered is not based on the worth of the patient. It’s not based on how pleasant the patient is or whether they can repay the effort. In fact, most of the time, the patient will never be able to repay the caregiver.

The sacrifices we might make to care for others are mere shadows of what Jesus Christ did for us. While we were His enemies, God sent His Son to reconcile us to Him. Before we even realized how unworthy we are, Christ sacrificed Himself for us. And there is nothing we could ever do to repay Him for the price He paid for us.

The greatest caregiver met our need for salvation when we were hopelessly dead in our sin. Without a shred of righteousness to call our own, we were powerless to save ourselves. Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, Savior, and Lord, really is the ultimate Caregiver!
