“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9
Imagine following the great Moses. “No prophet has risen since in Israel like Moses, whom GOD knew face-to-face. Never since has there been anything like the signs and miracle-wonders that GOD sent him to do in Egypt” (Deuteronomy 34:10-11, The Message). Joshua needed encouragement, so God’s word came audibly right down to Joshua, promising His presence. From that fountain flowed Joshua’s strength and courage.

One morning as a college freshman, I wrote a letter to my parents saying I believed God had called me to the ministry. It’s been quite a journey. I seldom set the schedule and never really chose the places. Yet one wife, 11 homes, two states, three sons, eight grandchildren, six churches, and uncountable blessings later, I affirm that God is faithful.

Since the day I was born, His fingerprints have been all over my life, His footprints around my paths. God keeps saying, “Go and trust.” He has been, is, and always will be faithful. Our strength and courage come from the One who left heaven and came down to us.
