“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. … God said, ‘Let there be … and there was.’”

Genesis 1:1-3
When God speaks, life happens. His words carry life-giving power. His words created our entire world and are the source of our lives. Moses told the Israelites, “Yes, he humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD” (Deuteronomy 8:3).

True life comes from God’s words. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful” (2 Timothy 3:16). This month we will reflect on how God’s Word, the Bible, continues to give power and life. “The Spirit of God, who is at work in the hearts of Christians, uses the Word of God to transform them into Christ-like people. And so, to neglect the discipline of Bible reading and study is to cut off the very source of spiritual food that you need to live a Christian life” (Nate Pickowicz, 2021).

It is my prayer that you will be inspired to dig more deeply into His Word as you become more Christ-like.
