“All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God’s grace in all its truth.”

Colossians 1:6
Friends on the East Coast recently wrote to me, “So many fond, wonderful memories at your house for Bible study many years ago on Okinawa while in the U.S. Army.” That was back in the 1970s. The power of the gospel in their lives from that time until now has been “bearing fruit and growing,” as Paul said also of his Colossian friends.

On Okinawa, the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) aired the good news of the gospel 24/7 to the English-speaking community. We were on staff and also hosted a weekly Bible study in our home for military personnel. After dinner, we’d open the Scriptures. Over the years, many people were part of that group and have carried on “God’s grace in all its truth.”

The Apostle Paul promises that, in spite of opposition, “all over the world this gospel is bearing fruit.” In another of his letters, he affirms that “the Lord’s message rang out from you … your faith in God has become known everywhere” (1 Thessalonians 1:8).

Praise God, the gospel continues to go out and produce fruit throughout the world!
