“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Joshua 1:8
Fitness buffs wouldn’t think of missing their daily workout. The ancient scholar Jerome said we must exercise day and night on the Lord. How is your spiritual exercise routine?

Joshua was told to make God’s Word the priority in his life so he would obey and be prosperous. The Bible is clear: Blessed is the one who meditates on His law constantly (see Psalm 1:1-2). “Keep my commands in your heart, for they will … bring you prosperity” (Proverbs 3:1-2). What’s your focus each day? From where do your most frequent thoughts come? What’s fixed in your mind?

Imagine if you treated the Bible like you treat your cell phone. Let’s say you carried your Bible with you everywhere you went, turned back to get it if you forgot it, flipped through it several times a day, used it to receive messages from the text, believed you couldn’t live without it, gave it to kids as gifts, referred to it as you traveled, and went right to it in an emergency. Wouldn’t that be spectacular?

Fix your mind on God’s Word and be empowered for a prosperous day.
